Affordable, Connected Senior Living

Raleigh, NC

Milner Commons represents a new chapter in affordable senior living for Raleigh. Supported by a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), this 156-unit community was made possible through a partnership between DHIC and The Presbyterian Homes, Inc., who transformed the former site of a dissolving church into a thriving residence for low-income seniors.

Creating Homes, Strengthening Community

Designed as two, four-story residential buildings, Milner Commons provides welcoming homes for individuals earning at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Beyond housing, the community fosters connection and wellness through thoughtful amenities, including a multi-purpose room, computer center, fitness spaces, tenant storage, screened porches, and outdoor gathering areas such as a gazebo and pocket park.

Access & Opportunity

Strategically located along the forthcoming New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor, Milner Commons positions residents with greater access to the opportunities and services that keep them connected to the city. More than a place to live, it is a community designed to enrich daily life and empower independence for Raleigh’s seniors.
