A New Chapter for Charlotte’s 4th Ward

In Charlotte’s 4th Ward Historic District, a familiar landmark is stepping into a new role. The Graham Street redevelopment is not just a new address on the map. It’s a design story rooted in memory, shaped by craftsmanship, and built for modern urban life.
At the heart of the project stands the preserved façade of the former 4th Ward Bakery. This architectural gesture is more than aesthetic. It’s a tribute to the neighborhood’s legacy. By integrating this historic element into the new development, we’ve created a meaningful connection between past and present, one that invites residents to experience the city’s evolution firsthand.
Designing with Memory in Mind
Inside, the design continues the conversation. Soft industrial detailing and exposed materials are paired with refined finishes, creating a space that feels both grounded and forward-looking. It’s a place where “quaint meets urban contemporary,” offering a unique blend of character and comfort.

Graham Street reflects Cline’s commitment to thoughtful architecture, one that respects context, elevates experience, and builds community. Our interdisciplinary approach ensures that every decision, from massing to materiality, supports both the developer’s goals and the resident’s lifestyle. The result is a living environment that feels intentional, authentic, and enduring.
Set to be completed in 2026, this mixed-use development will offer more than just homes. It will offer a sense of place. A place to live well, gather often, and connect deeply with the spirit of Uptown Charlotte.
