Creating Homes That Support Life at Every Pace

Senior housing is about more than a roof over someone’s head. It is about creating places where life can be lived fully, where every detail supports comfort, connection, and well-being. At Cline, we approach each senior living project with the same belief: residents should feel at home the moment they arrive, and that feeling should only grow over time.
Waltonwood Lead Mine in Raleigh and The Retreat at Coastal Grand in Myrtle Beach are just two examples of how we bring this philosophy to life. Each was designed to meet unique needs, from active adult living to assisted living and memory care, yet both share a commitment to timeless design, functional beauty, and a true sense of community.
Waltonwood Lead Mine: Elegant and Timeless for Every Stage of Care
Tucked into a scenic 5-acre site in Raleigh, Waltonwood Lead Mine is more than a place to live. It is a thoughtfully designed environment that supports 100 residents, including 30 in dedicated memory care. The vision was clear: create a space that is safe, functional, and beautiful while honoring the dignity and independence of its residents. Our team worked closely with the developer, staff, and even residents from a previous Waltonwood project to understand what truly makes a difference in day-to-day life. From welcoming common areas and bright dining spaces to secure outdoor gardens, every element is intentional. The result is a harmonious blend of comfort and care, designed to encourage social interaction, support staff efficiency, and provide a peaceful retreat for residents and their families.
The Retreat at Coastal Grand: A Vibrant Life in Full Swing
In Myrtle Beach, The Retreat at Coastal Grand offers a different kind of senior living focused on active, independent lifestyles. Here, 55+ residents enjoy resort-style amenities, from walking trails and a putting green to a clubhouse filled with activities. The design brings people together in ways that feel natural, whether it is gathering for a game of billiards, relaxing by the pool, or tending vegetables in the community garden.
Every space supports wellness and connection. The fitness center, yoga studio, creative arts room, and education and wellness center are just a few examples. The design embraces Myrtle Beach’s coastal charm while providing all the modern comforts residents expect.

A Consistent Approach to Senior Living Design
Whether we are designing for active adults or residents in need of supportive care, our approach stays the same:
Spaces that bring people together through hospitality-inspired common areas and vibrant programming opportunities.
A true sense of home with design rooted in local character and elevated by thoughtful details.
Wellness as a priority, with light-filled interiors, seamless indoor and outdoor spaces, and amenities that make healthy living part of daily life.
Durable, timeless design that balances beauty with long-term performance.
Senior living is evolving, and so are the spaces we create. At Cline, we bring together architecture, interiors, landscape, and planning to design communities where residents can thrive today and for years to come.
We are proud to have partnered closely with our clients to bring these communities to life. For Waltonwood Lead Mine, our team provided both architecture and interiors, shaping a space that blends comfort with care. At The Retreat at Coastal Grand, our work spanned architecture, planning, interiors, and landscape architecture, creating a connected, vibrant environment inside and out. If you are exploring a senior living project, we would love to collaborate with you to design spaces that support well-being, foster connection, and stand the test of time.
